Recent hook creations, and a few oldies..

I finished this baby up last night. A web-like cowl. Can be worn wrapped around twice or three times. A lovely little accessory.

This hat was made a few months ago.. I just never got around to taking actual pictures of it. It can be seen this winter season keeping my noggin nice and toasty.

A hat made from homespun yarn. A style of hat I'm not really known to wear, however it has grown on me and makes for a very warm head on a snowy day.

This hat is free to a good home. :) White and pink, which aren't really my colors. I had some left over yarn from another project. It's a pretty little number. Fits my head snugly, but would most likely fit a child better. Takers? SOLD .. Miss Jacki won.

Not gonna lie, I'm proud of this beauty. It's a scarf specially designed and made for my dear husband. This is my first Tunisian Crochet project.

New skills

My newest venture into the world of crochet is Tunisian Crochet. Some may call it the Afgan Stitch.. however its uses are more diverse then what the Afgan stitch implies. Tunisian crochet uses a long hook with a stopper at the end, kind of like a knitting needle, but not. The results are a beautiful fabric that looks almost exactly like knit! The above pictures are of my practice swatch. I don't have any photos of my first project which is still in the works. When it's completed I'll post a picture of it with it's handsome recipient. :-)

Scarves..

I'm a fan. A fan of scarves. Recently (and not so recently) I have been crocheting a few...

For this crazy chunky one I took inspiration from my original ruffle scarf from way back when. I switched it up with some lovely thick, cozy yarn. It's snuggly and it dresses up my otherwise drab winter coat. :)

This second scarf I made a couple months ago. I love the green. It's pattern is Queen Annes Lace. Which is lovely design and texture. I chose a cotton for this and the resulting product is super soft to the touch.

And just because I'm in the scarf mood... Here's my stash at the moment minus one that is hiding out with my coat.  The gray one on the end is my first scarf, and the one that inspired the chunky ruffle. The patterned one is from my sister when she went to Germany. And well the silver one is just a silver one I own. No story to that one. :)

Not a scarf.. cute though. Sorry, ignore the hat if you would like. ;-) He just happened to grab it and put it on and did a dance. :) My crazy little helper!

Life just keeps going..

It never slows down. A new chapter is headed our way. Constantly I battle worry, constantly I wonder what our future holds. But, constantly I KNOW God has it all in his hands. He will guide us as we find our way through this season and enter the next. Whether we head into more schooling for Joel so that we can get moved around by the State Police. Whether we settle somewhere outside of PA state lines. Whether we find out we'll be parked here for a longer period of time. God knows. God cares. God loves. God is involved. This next year requires another dose of patience, another dose of faith. We're nearing the finish line in time to see that we're about to start again! It's exciting, sometimes refreshing, always challenging.

If I Stand, Jars of Clay

There's more that rises in the morning than the sun
And more that shines in the night than just the moon
There's more than just this fire here that keeps me warm
In a shelter that is larger than this room

And there's a loyalty that's deeper than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs that I can sing
Stuff of Earth competes for the allegiance
I owe only to the Giver of all good things

So if I stand let me stand on the promise that you will pull me through
And if I can't, let me fall on the grace that first brought me to You
So if I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for his home

And there's more that dances on the prairies than the wind
And more that pulses in the ocean than the tide
There's a love that's fiercer than the love between friends
More gentle than a mother's when her baby's at her side

And there's a loyalty that's deeper than mere sentiments
And a music higher than the songs that I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes for the allegiance
I owe only to the Giver of all good things

So if I stand let me stand on the promise that You will pull me through
And if I can't let me fall on the grace that first brought me to You
And if I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for his home

So if I stand let me stand on the promise You will pull me through
And if I can't let me fall on the grace that first brought me to You
And if I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs
And if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for his home

And if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for home

I've fallen in love...

.... with Crochet. Shhh... don't tell Joel.

My first and failed project. :)

I made two other slouchy hats before this one. However this is my own pattern and fits much better. The orange wasn't my favorite but I had the yarn to use so I used it. I kinda like it.

This is also my own pattern. A cowl made out of double crochet and bobble stitches.

This ruffly scarf is from a pattern I found online. I like it a lot!
